Responsive light cubes
Plexiglas, vinyl, arduino, LEDs, custom electronics
A meditative, yet active, light installation comprised of translucent cubes and distance sensors which, when interacted with will light up a series of cubes in a specific programmation. The desired effect is to capture the attention of the participant and bring them out of their current realities into an area of suspended pleasure or joy. The idea is to forget work, stress, money, your lover, etc, and focus on the present moment, to allow yourself to experience that space. Although you may not be left with anything productive or useable at the end of the interaction, you may come away from the experience with a slightly altered perception, a kind of reset on your status quo. Existence itself is enough of a justification for an object to warrant its existence. This creates the possibility for engaging our senses while experiencing art as an active participant.
